The Yeshiva Gedola Merkaz Hatorah Tiferes Mordechai of Montreal was founded over 35 years ago by a small group of parents and community members, with the primary objective of providing the opportunity and resources to ensure the finest Jewish education available. With this all – encompassing Jewish education in hand, infused with high level Talmudic and Secular knowledge, our alumni have graduated and continued their lives as successful doctors, professionals, rabbis, teachers, and community leaders, all with the common thread of deep commitment to the torah way of life.

Yeshiva University has been transforming lives for more than a century. Since its inception YU has been dedicated to melding the ancient traditions of Jewish law and life with the heritage of Western civilization, and each year we celebrate as future leaders make YU their home.

Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet, is a public art exhibition designed to raise awareness of solutions to climate change.  Cool Globes grew out of a commitment at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2005, and was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2006.

EGA works with members and partners to promote effective environmental philanthropy by sharing knowledge, fostering debate, cultivating leadership, facilitating collaboration, and catalyzing action. 

 

The Heschel Center is dedicated to building a sustainable future for Israeli society - environmentally, socially and economically - through education and reflective activism. Our strategies include leadership development, education, working with government and non-government organizations, and fostering activism and community-based projects across all sectors of Israeli society.

 

 

The Israel Union for Environmental Defense is Israel's leading environmental advocacy organization.  IUED works to protect Israel's environment - as a public watchdog, as a catalyst to policy reform, as a source of free legal counsel to victims of environmental hazards, and as an initiator of strategic campaigns to further environmental goals.

Keren Hayael is a voluntary association founded in 1984 to protect and foster nature, landscape and heritage in Israel. 

Les amis de la montagne exists to protect and enhance Mount Royal through community involvement and environmental education.

The Morgan Arboretum is a 245 hectare forested reserve, situated on the McGill University Macdonald Campus in Ste. Anne de Bellevue on the western tip of the island of Montreal.

The Israel Nature and Parks Authority (INPA) was established as two separate entities (which were merged in 1998), by a law passed by the Knesset in 1963, to meet the goals of the National Parks, Nature Reserves and Commemoration Sites Law and the Law for the Protection of Wild Animals.

 

Shatil, The New Israel Fund’s Initiative for Social Change, was established in 1982 to strengthen civil-society entities and promote democracy, tolerance, and social justice in Israel. Each year, Shatil provides almost 1,500 nonprofit organizations with consulting services, training, coalition-building assistance, and general support. (Shatil Project for Volunteers)

The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI) is Israel's leading environmental non-profit organization.

Twelve kilometers to the south of Beer-Sheva is the Ramat Hovav Industrial Park (“Ramat Hovav”). Ramat Hovav is an illustration of the fact that the Negev has become the dumping ground of the Country’s most polluting activities: hazardous, nuclear, chemical, munitions and solid waste to name but a few. SDN mounted a vigorous and comprehensive campaign that focuses on the major issues of pollution, awareness of its impact and a willingness and ability to mitigate it.

The unique character and beauty of Jerusalem is being destroyed.  The environment and the quality of life are deteriorating. The Forum for the Future of Jerusalem, together with the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel and the entire Sustainable Jerusalem Coalition, which numbers close on fifty member organizations, are all working on the preparation of a future plan for the city. 

 

We work with government, business and individuals to conserve our environment by providing science-based research, education and policy work, and acting as a catalyst for the change that today's situation demands. Our mission is to protect the diversity of nature and our quality of life, now and for the future.

The principal aim of The Galilee Society – The Arab National Society for Health, Research and Services – is to empower the indigenous Palestinian Arab minority in Israel by providing it with the means to acheive equitable socio-economic, health and environmental conditions. (Guarding the Galilee project)

In 1996 ACBP entered the field of environment in an effort not only to improve environmental conditions in Israel but also to overcome the social gaps built into this area. A study commissioned by ACBP indicated that the most effective use of foundation funds would be in grass-roots environmental groups which were emerging in Israeli civic society. The Foundation began by investing in large and small organizations which were the heart of a nascent environmental movement which eventually thrust environmental issues into mainstream thinking and action. Issues like pollution, open spaces, transportation, energy sources, population growth, beaches, and others became popular causes.  Environmental organizations multiplied and attempted to protect the interests of individual and society from violations of basic rights in all areas connected with the quality of the environment in which we live.  In 2002 ACBP joined forces with several other foundations to form the Green Environment Fund, on the assumption that combined resources, experience, and knowledge would enable the partners to influence the field more than any one could do alone. The Nathan Cummings Foundation, the Morningstar Foundation, the New Israel Fund, the Sebba Foundation, and ACBP have been working together for more than a decade.  We have supported grass roots organizations, large and small, traditional and new, seeing them as the key vehicle of change. GEF attempts to strengthen the sustainability of grass roots entities, and to transform the movement into a force with real power in Israel.  Another focus has been the development of environmental leadership, working with the Heschel Center.  And we have continued to support the Green Network, which works towards educating elementary school children about environmental issues and turning them into home and community activists. This project has expanded greatly in a new partnership with the Ministry of Environment.  As ACBP exits from this field, we are cooperating with our partners in finding new funding in order to maintain the power of GEF.

The Land Conservancy of British Columbia protects natural areas, historic sites, farms and ranches, and places of community and recreational importance.

The Trans Canada Trail is the world’s longest network of trails, developed and promoted by a non-profit registered charity. Our mission is to promote and assist in the development and use of the Trail in every province and territory. We also provide funding to local trail builders to support the development of trails.

Transport Today and Tomorrow was founded in 1998, in order to promote the development of a transportation system based on the principles of Sustainable Transportation. 

Founded in 1960, the Ackerman Institute for the Family is one of the premier institutions for family therapy and one of the best-known and most highly regarded training facilities for family therapists in the United States. The mission of the Adler Aphasia Center is to empower, enhance, and enrich the lives of people with aphasia and their caregivers.

Alzheimer Groupe (A.G.I.) Inc. is located in West-end Montreal but has been serving individuals and families coping with Alzheimer`s Disease and related disorders from a larger geographical area since the early 1980`s. We answer concerns from pre and early-stage diagnosis through mid to late stages of Alzheimer`s and to post bereavement.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through Education, Advocacy and Research. 

Magen David Adom (MDA) provides a rapid and skilled emergency medical response, including disaster, ambulance, and blood services, to more than half a million Israelis each year. American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA) is the largest supporter of MDA worldwide. 

AMI-Quebec helps families manage the effects of mental illness through support, education, guidance, and advocacy.

The Autism Society, the nation’s leading grassroots autism organization, exists to improve the lives of all affected by autism. We do this by increasing public awareness about the day-to-day issues faced by people on the spectrum, advocating for appropriate services for individuals across the lifespan, and providing the latest information regarding treatment, education, research and advocacy.

The Canadian Cancer Society is a national community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer.

Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s mission is to help people with cystic fibrosis (CF). 

The Canadian Gene Cure Foundation will continue to create and sustain a cooperative research community in the field of human genetic disease which will increase the likelihood of successful discovery of cures and treatments for inherited diseases. (Scriver Scholarship Fund)

The mission of Canadian Magen David Adom for Israel (CMDA) is to donate medical supplies and ambulances directly to the people of Israel through Magen David Adom (MDA)*, Israel's sole national emergency, medical, ambulance, and blood services society.

The Canadian Red Cross mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world.

 

To accelerate breakthroughs, the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation provides today’s best young scientists with funding to pursue innovative cancer research. We support young scientists who have great potential to achieve breakthroughs in how we diagnose, treat and prevent cancer. 

Cancer Support Services (CSS) differs greatly from other cancer groups in that its number one priority is funding patient aid rather than research. CSS also funds the acquisition and distribution of merchandise to hospices and other non-profit health care providers. 

 

The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC) believes that a cure will be found for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. To realize this, the CCFC is committed, first and foremost, to raise increasing funds for medical research. The CCFC also believes it is important to make all individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) aware of the Foundation, and educate these individuals, their families, health professionals and the general public about these diseases.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. We fund more CF research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support.

As one man alone, there were limits to how much Wener could contribute. But as the coordinator of a large-scale fundraising event, the sky was the limit! And so, Défi Canderel was born. By 2011, the Défi had raised over $7 million for cancer research. Not only that, the Défi Canderel gives the funds with no strings attached – unique in the world of research. 

DVI is the largest free dental clinic in all of Israel, offering state-of-the-art treatment, thanks to volunteer dentists from all corners of the world. DVI offers free dental care to Jerusalem’s at-risk children and youth, regardless of race or religion – and has done so since 1980.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971. Today, MSF provides independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters.

The core mission of Maimonides Geriatric Centre, a McGill University-affiliated long-term care facility, is to provide service to aging members of the community who are no longer able to function independently.

To finance the development of the Douglas Institute: patient care, research in neuroscience and mental health, and education and training.

The mission of the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation Canada (DMRFC) is to advance research for more treatments and ultimately a cure; to promote awareness and education; and to support the needs and well being of affected individuals and families.

The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) was established in the United States in 1992 by Sir Elton John, and is now located in New York City.  Mission – to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS through innovative HIV prevention programs, efforts to eliminate stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS, and direct treatment and care services for people living with HIV/AIDS.

The Farha Foundation is Quebec's leading AIDS fundraising organization, committed to help men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS. The events organized by the Farha Foundation – most notably the AIDS Walk, ÇA MARCHE – also serve to sensitize the population to the AIDS epidemic.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging-guided Focused Ultrasound is a new technology for non-invasive surgery, the precise delivery of drugs, and an alternative to radiation therapy. It promises improved outcomes and faster recovery for tumors and other conditions. The Focused Ultrasound Surgery Foundation was established in 2006 with the mission to shorten the time from technology development to patient treatment; to foster new applications; and to accelerate the worldwide adoption of focused ultrasound surgery.

Our mission is to engage the community and support the Sainte-Justine UHC in its pursuit of excellence and its commitment to providing the children and mothers-to-be of today and tomorrow with one of the highest levels of healthcare in the world.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation, a volunteer-based health charity, leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its application; the promotion of healthy living; and advocacy.

The Foundation of Stars previously known under the name of Fondation for Research into Children’s Diseases is recognized as the most important source of non-governmental funding for pediatric research in Quebec.

For a quarter of a century, the Friends of the Neuro, a non-profit group of dedicated volunteers, has raised money for the hospital and helped patients and their families. The Friends purchase hospital equipment, fund bursaries for nurses, support the Patients' Committee, and do much more.

Yad Sarah is the leading volunteer-staffed organization in the State of Israel. With the assistance of over 6,000 volunteers in more than 100 locations, Yad Sarah provides help to over 400,000 people every year, addressing the home and health care needs of the frail and the disabled as well as victims of terror, children with special needs, and the homebound. Friends of Yad Sarah represents the mission of Yad Sarah to its friends in the U.S. and to the international community at the UN.

Our mission can be summed up in one short sentence that clearly describes our actions, our commitment and the dedication of our staff. We want to enable the greatest number of autistic children to reach their full potential and achieve independence in our society.

Gift of Life is one of the nation's public bone marrow, blood stem cell and umbilical cord blood registries. Through its life-saving work, Gift of Life is a world leader facilitating transplants for children and adults suffering from many life-threatening diseases, among them leukemia and lymphoma. In 2004, Jay Feinberg received the prestigious Charles Bronfman Prize for his accomplishments.

Founded by Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, the Hadassah Medical Organization pioneered the development of standards and practices of health care in Israel. Its main focus and its health care activities are in Jerusalem, and its heritage and emotional links are deeply rooted in the land of Israel and its people.

The IsrA.L.S. vision is that of all ALS victims everywhere: to create a world where ALS is a treatable and manageable disease, and ALS patients can enjoy an optimal quality of life. Though still a young organization, IsrA.L.S. has become the first and only address for ALS in Israel. With a minimal staff, a tight budget and big hearts, IsrA.L.S is making a significant impact among the ALS community. 

Established in 1952, Israel Cancer Association is the leading and largest health-related organization in Israel but receives no government funding, depending entirely upon private donations. Israel conducts cancer research at a fraction of the cost of comparable research done in the U. S., with fewer restrictions. The science is stellar. The research value, dollar for dollar, is unrivaled.

Our Mission is to continue to find treatments and cures for all forms of cancer, utilizing the unique benefits Israel and its scientists have to offer.  The results of the research have a significant impact in Toronto, across Canada and throughout the world.

The mission of the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind is to improve the quality of life of blind people by providing them with safe mobility, independence and self-confidence through the faithful assistance of guide dogs.

The mission of the Jewish Eldercare Centre Auxiliary is to enhance the quality of life of the residents of the Jewish Eldercare Centre and of the participants of the Geriatric Day Centre; to educate the public as to the needs of the frail elderly; and to raise funds in order to help fulfill these goals.
