Historica Canada began operating in 2000 as the Historica Foundation with a mandate to engage young Canadians in the history of their country. In 2009, Historica merged with the Dominion Institute, creating the Historica-Dominion Institute, now known as Historica Canada. Using groundbreaking public opinion research and innovative TV, new media and in-school programs, Historica Canada helps hundreds of thousands of Canadians connect in meaningful ways with the country’s history, shared citizenship and democratic institutions and values. Historica Canada’s programs fall under three themes: memory, democracy and identity. Through the scope and quality of its programs, Historica Canada has become the leading national organization in its field. Historica Canada holds the productions initiated by the Philanthropies and further developed by Historica: English and French Heritage Minutes series of 60-second TV dramas as well as 100 Historica Minutes, and 100 Footprints, both 60-second TV clips of little known Canadian heroes using documentary footage, and an additional series of Radio Minutes adapted from the TV versions. Historica Canada’s website features a large volume of resources for teachers, including digitized versions of the Minutes and accompanying lesson plans. The site receives approximately 50,000 visits a month. The Canadian Encyclopedia, the basic reference work on Canadian history and the bilingual go-to resource for Canadian students, and The Encyclopedia of Music in Canada are available free of charge on-line though HDI to up to half a million visitors a month. Encounters with Canada, yet another Historica Canada initiative, is Canada's largest youth forum. Throughout the school year, 120 to 138 secondary students from across Canada come to Ottawa for a week; there they discover their country through each other, learn about Canadian institutions, meet accomplished Canadians, explore career options, develop civic leadership skills and live an extraordinary bilingual experience.

Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK), formerly Inuit Tapirisat of Canada, is the national voice of 55,000 Inuit living in 53 communities across the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (Northwest Territories), Nunavut, Nunavik (Northern Quebec), and Nunatsiavut (Northern Labrador), land claims regions. Founded in 1971 ITK represents and promotes the interests of Inuit on a wide variety of environmental, social, cultural, and political, issues and challenges facing Inuit on the national level.

The Shalom Hartman Institute (SHI) is a center of transformative thinking and teaching that addresses the major challenges facing the Jewish people and elevates the quality of Jewish life in Israel and around the world.

 

MOT stands for Museum of Tolerance, the only museum of its kind in the world. It is the educational arm of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, an internationally renowned human rights organization dedicated to promoting respect and mutual understanding, through education, community partnerships , and civic engagement.

Within a 104-year-old building, Sixth & I offers the DC community a fresh, resonant, and creative mix of high-impact cultural, social and spiritual programs. With a multi-denominational and non-membership approach, we are an ongoing experiment in creating a uniquely Jewish experience, where identity and community intersect on your terms.

The idea for Slingshot developed organically following a weekend retreat for a dozen young Jews in 2004 who were preparing to become involved in their family foundations. Participants were hoping to learn how to navigate the alphabet soup of the Jewish community and sort out which organizations resonated for themselves and their peers. They imagined a Zagat-style guidebook and worked to produce Slingshot: A Resource Guide to Jewish Innovation to highlight the 50 most innovative nonprofits in North American Jewish life for themselves and their peers. With the help of staff from the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies they reached out to funding professionals across the United States to evaluate the organizations that qualified as finalists for the guide. Given the level of due diligence that goes into Slingshot, not only have these twenty-something women and men benefited from their initial idea, but the Jewish community has gained a valuable resource. The next-generation funders responsible for Slingshot took their concept a step further, and created the Slingshot Fund, a peer giving network, to support Jewish organizations that resonated with their generation. The Slingshot Fund exposes its next generation funders to a professional grant-making process. While many come from families involved in philanthropy, most have yet to review grant proposals, conduct site visits, and make allocation decisions. In conjunction with a group of their peers, Slingshot offers them the opportunity to develop those skills and learn from experts in the field while leveraging their small gifts into a significant grant pool. While Slingshot was founded by a small group of next generation funders who wanted a way to explore and support innovative Jewish projects, it has grown to become an important funding source, a closely watched seal of approval, and a leading voice advocating for innovation in Jewish life. Going forward, Slingshot will use its experience to create a generation of lay leaders that will display a deep commitment to their peers and a powerful interest in supporting Jewish life. In 2011 and 2012, Slingshot reached several organizational milestones which greatly influenced the direction of its growth including the move out of their founding home at ACBP in 2011 which puts them on their own course of sustainability.

Storahtelling is a pioneer in Jewish education via the arts and new media. Through innovative leadership training programs and theatrical performances, Storahtelling makes ancient stories and traditions accessible for new generations, advancing Judaic literacy and raising social consciousness.

Serving as the country's largest food bank and food rescue network, Leket Israel's primary mission is to alleviate the problem of nutritional insecurity through the rescue and redistribution of excess food to benefit Israel's needy.

The Jewish Federations of North America represents 155 Jewish Federations and over 300 Network communities, which raise and distribute more than $3 billion annually for social welfare, social services and educational needs.

The Kerem Institute was founded in 1974 in Jerusalem by Alliance Israélite Universelle, to train teachers in a humanistic and Jewish education in the formal education system. ORT is the world's largest Jewish education and vocational training non-governmental organization.

The World Union of Jewish Students was founded in 1924 with the aim of “Fostering the unity of Jewish students worldwide. Striving to ensure their participation in the fulfillment of the aspirations of the Jewish people, its continuity, and the development of its religious, spiritual, cultural and social heritage.” WUJS holds itself to same high ideals to this day and continues to promote the Jewish cause as a light unto the nations.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame is a non-profit institution dedicated to preserving the history of tennis, inspiring and encouraging junior tennis development, enshrining tennis heroes and heroines and providing a landmark for tennis enthusiasts worldwide.

Better than any other youth sport activity, baseball and softball have become the thread that has sewn together a patchwork of nations and cultures around the world. The Special Olympics movement is active in 170 countries. Its mission is to enrich the lives of individuals with an intellectual disability (ID) through sport. More than 3.7 millions special athletes of all ages are registered worldwide and over 34,000 in Canada, with nearly 5,000 taking part in the recreational or competition programs offered throughout Québec.

The "ASA" Women's Basketball Team was established in 1964 and has been in the Women's National Basketball League for the majority of its seasons. In 1988, "ASA" Jerusalem formed junior teams. Today, over 200 girls regularly participate in the different age group teams and compete agains the various leagues around the country

AMIT enables Israel’s youth to realize their potential and strengthens Israeli society by educating and nurturing children from diverse backgrounds within a framework of academic excellence, Jewish values and Zionist ideals.

Our mission is to offer short term shelter to women 18 years of age and over who, for any number of reasons, find themselves homeless.
